What to expect for your child’s first theatre experience!

The Tiger

What to expect for your child’s first theatre experience!

Want to know more about what’s on in Carlisle?  Why not come along and join the tea time mayhem with The Tiger Who Came To Tea live on stage with your little ones!

This might be your child’s first ever trip to the theatre! Now that you’ve decided to watch this fun and interactive 55 minutes of joy and laughter live on stage with your little ones it is essential that you are well organized.

See some handy tips below to prepare!

  • What to wear

You’re likely to see audience members in all manner of apparel, from jeans to dress clothes. We always recommend children wear what they’ll feel comfortable in. Some kids enjoy a chance to dress up, but if a T-shirt and jeans are more their style, then go for it!

  • Essentials

Bring a sweater, blanket, or favorite comforting item. Theatres vary in temperature, especially very old theatres, so a blanket or sweater is always great to have on hand.

  • Arriving at the theatre

Arrive 20 to 30 minutes before your show time. This gives you time to park and walk into the building, hang up your coats, and use the restroom if needed! You also have plenty of time to take a look around and find your seats (theatre doors open 30 minutes prior to most shows).

  • Get involved!

A child’s first theatre experience is magical but The Tiger Who Came to Tea is a special treat. During the show children will be encouraged to shout out and sing along with the characters, which you don’t always see at the theatre! Mummy, Sophie and Tiger will tell you when the audience should get involved but don’t worry if your child shouts out at other times – the most important thing is to have fun!
